The under-construction Legado Apartments in Prescott Valley are destroyed in a fire

April 1, 2024

An apartment complex under construction in downtown Prescott Valley was destroyed in an early-morning fire Monday.

Around 1:15 a.m. Central Arizona Fire and Medical crews were called to the area of Main Street and Florentine Road, where the Legado Luxury Apartments structure was already engulfed in flames.

There were no reported injuries; and Prescott Valley Police evacuated residents in the apartments across the street, as a precaution, during the first several hours of the response. The estimated loss to the property owner was about $60 million.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, with local officials requesting the assistance of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
