1999 Yavapai County cold case solved via DNA technology

February 14, 2024

Another Yavapai County Cold Case has been solved, thanks to advanced DNA technology.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a set of unidentified human remains were found near the Bumble Bee Road exit of I-17 in 1999. An autopsy did not show any signs of a violent death; and the victim’s fingerprints did not match anyone in DPS or FBI records at the time.

In 2018, Cold Case investigators requested that the FBI conduct another fingerprint search, and this time a match came back to a Judy Glascock of Ventura, California. Investigators contacted her family members, who submitted DNA for comparison; and an analysis confirmed that the victim was Glascock.

The cause of her death remains unknown; but Sheriff David Rhodes commended investigators for bringing closure to Glascock’s family.
