Wildfires burn 3,800+ acres along Route 66 near Seligman

March 6, 2024
A series of wildfires along Route 66 near Seligman have burned over 3,800 acres.
The Seligman Fire District reported about a dozen small fires seven miles northwest of town around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Most of them burned an acre or less; but one grew to about 100 acres before it was contained.
State Forestry and Fire crews took command over three others, managed together as the Aubrey Fire, which were driven by strong winds until firefighters established initial containment a few hours later. As of Wednesday morning, the blaze was estimated at over 3,800 acres, with 40% containment.
Remember to always make sure there are no trailer chains or anything else that could cause a spark on the pavement dragging from your vehicle.
