A man wanted on a felony warrant led Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on a foot chase across Interstate 17, in the Rimrock area, last Wednesday.

According to YCSO, a deputy conducting a traffic stop on Beaver Creek Road recognized that a passenger in the vehicle was wanted, and advised the suspect he was under arrest and needed to get out of the car. The suspect exited, but resisted arrest and ran away.

As another deputy was on the way to assist, the suspect ran up a hill, and again escaped capture, running through the desert toward the highway. The man was almost hit by one swerving driver as he ran across the roadway; and a deputy cautiously followed, waiting for breaks in traffic.

On the other side of the Interstate, deputies were able to detain the suspect, as he once again resisted. He was ultimately booked into jail for the outstanding warrant, as well as resisting arrest.
