Town of Camp Verde seeking FEMA grant for Verde Lakes Dr. flood mitigation

April 2, 2024

The Town of Camp Verde is working on long-term solutions to address seasonal flooding in the Verde Lakes area, as intermittent road closures have affected Verde Lakes Drive over the past few weeks.

The road sustained significant damage during back-to-back floods a year ago, and as that event was declared an emergency—in addition to similar floods in 1992 and 2004—the Town has applied for a grant of just over $1 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to fund the study and design of flood mitigation improvements for the area.

Officials remind residents that you can sign up for the Camp Verde ALERTS notification system for information about road closures or other local events. For more information, visit the Marshal’s Office page on the Town website.

If you come upon a flooded crossing, remember to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!” and never remove or go around barricades.
