A Utah man faces criminal charges following an alleged domestic violence incident in Cottonwood Wednesday night.

The Cottonwood Police Department says a concerned citizen reported seeing, via surveillance camera, a man grabbing and pushing a woman near a home in the 700 block of Main Street.

As responding officers approached the home, they overheard a man mocking someone about being a victim, and through a window, they saw what looked like a man standing over a woman who was lying on a bed.

Police knocked on the door and announced their presence, but the occupants did not respond. Officers saw movement inside, then took cover after one officer thought he saw a gun in the man’s hands. They initially called for a SWAT team, but the situation was peacefully resolved about an hour later when both subjects voluntarily came outside.

Following a thorough investigation, police arrested the 37-year-old man for Assault and Disorderly Conduct per Domestic Violence.
