February 7, 2024
A standoff between a man wanted on multiple felony charges and the Prescott Police Department SWAT team ended in the suspect’s arrest Monday evening.
According to Police, officers tried to serve an arrest warrant for a 39-year-old man at an apartment on Country Club Circle, but initially, no one inside responded. However, the suspect tried to leave the apartment soon after, but went back inside after police spoke to him.
Officers then called in the SWAT team for assistance, and attempted negotiations with the suspect were unsuccessful, though a woman did come out of the apartment after about an hour, and confirmed the suspect was still inside.
Police obtained a search warrant, and about four hours after the initial response, the SWAT team entered the apartment and found the suspect in a bedroom. He reportedly still refused to comply, so officers deployed a Police K-9 to take him into custody.
The man was taken to the hospital for injuries to his leg, and he faces charges including Aggravated Assault per Domestic Violence and Resisting Arrest, among others.
