A teenage girl who ran away from a Lake Montezuma residential treatment center on Saturday evening was later rescued from a cliffside.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says that less than an hour after the teen was reported missing, dispatchers received a 911 hang-up from the Beaver Creek area, then got more calls about someone yelling for help.

Responding deputies discovered the teen had fallen about 3/4 of the way down a 200-foot embankment. She was uninjured, and a DPS Ranger helicopter crew rescued her from the cliffside. The teen was cleared by medical personnel, then returned to the treatment center.
