Prescott Valley woman sentenced in 2021 shooting death of boyfriend

A Prescott Valley woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 2021 shooting death of her boyfriend.
According to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office, 45-year-old Shannon Marie Jackson claimed that she had endured years of domestic violence before shooting and killing 56-year-old Sterling Wade Peters during an argument. Investigators found little evidence of physical abuse, and Jackson eventually pled guilty to Manslaughter per Domestic Violence.
County Attorney Dennis McGrane advises all firearm owners to familiarize yourself with Arizona’s self-defense laws, as generally speaking, the use of lethal face is never warranted by words alone.
