The new Yavapai County Criminal Justice Center in Prescott is now fully-operational and fully-staffed, after operations have been phased in over the past several months.

The facility includes a Detention Center—where inmates can be held for up to two weeks prior to sentencing or release—and Superior Court chambers. It also houses a Re-entry Connections Center, with programs designed to reduce recidivism rates by screening all inmates for mental health and substance abuse disorders; and connecting individuals being released from jail with mental health and social services.

In a presentation to the County Board of Supervisors Wednesday, Sheriff David Rhodes said the new facility will save the County about $2 million a year in inmate transportation costs between the Prescott area and Camp Verde Jail; in addition to freeing up more patrol time for officers and deputies.

You can find a link to the entire presentation on the Yavapai County Sheriff Facebook page.
