DPS and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man possibly shooting at cars in western Coconino County, Wednesday evening.

CCSO says deputies and DPS troopers were called to the Turquoise Ranches area, near Highway 99 west of Winslow, shortly after 6:30pm, for a report of a man shooting a gun near the roadway. DPS personnel were the first to arrive, and saw a man, who immediately ran away.

Officials sent out an emergency notification to area residents warning them of the situation; and they searched for the suspect for several hours, with the assistance of a SWAT Team and a DPS Ranger helicopter, but did not find him. However, the Navajo Police Department later notified CCSO that the man had been captured.

County residents who have not already signed up to be notified of situations like this, or other emergencies, can do so at coconino.az.gov.
