Humboldt Unified School District to move 6th grade to middle schools, relocate/rebrand Glassford Hill MS

Options for names and mascots for the rebranded Humboldt Unified School District middle school

March 7, 2024

The Humboldt Unified School District Board unanimously approved a school restructuring plan last week, which will move the 6th Grade from district elementary to middle schools, and relocate and rebrand Glassford Hill Middle School.

The idea has been discussed within the District for years, and the recently-approved plan was chosen out of four options, after a community feedback period. Officials say the move is designed to better serve students, staff and the community, streamline operations, and improve efficiency; and it will not require any additional funding from the community.

Glassford Hill Middle School will be moved to the District Office location on Robert Road; and the current campus will become part of Bradshaw Mountain High School.

Community members can share their opinion on the name and mascot of the new middle school, and you can find a link to an online survey at humboldtunified.com. The survey closes on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
