The Chino Valley Police Department has refuted rumors and social media posts claiming that there was a shooting in the area east of the Highlands Ranch neighborhood on Tuesday evening.

Officials say police were searching the area for a wanted felony suspect who had fled from officers. They did send out an alert to area residents to stay indoors, as officers used K-9’s to try to locate the man.

The search ended with the suspect still at large; but the Police Department says there was no shooting and there is no lasting threat to area residents.
