Winter weather knocks out power to hundreds

February 7, 2024

Winter weather and damaged equipment knocked out electricity for hundreds of residents in the greater Prescott area, Oak Creek Canyon, Williams and Parks Wednesday morning.

You can visit outagemap.aps.com to see details on current outages, including estimated restoration times.Yavapai County Emergency Management reminds everyone that if you see a downed power line, stay at least 100 feet away and call 911, then APS. If your power goes out, unplug appliances to prevent electrical spikes when power is restored; and wait at least five minutes after your power comes back before you plug them back in.

If you keep your refrigerator closed, the food inside should stay good for about four hours. If you use a generator, keep it outdoors and away from windows; and never use a gas stove or oven to heat your home.
