Verde Valley Fire District crews responded to a residential burn that got out of control in Cornville on Friday afternoon.

According to the District, crews responded to the area of Merritt Ranch Road, and began working to contain the blaze. It ultimately burned about a third of an acre; and there were no reported injuries or structure damage.

Officials remind the public that if you plan to burn brush, leaves or anything else on your property, you must have a current burn permit, available at vvburnpermits.org, and check the website the day you plan to burn to make sure conditions are favorable and burning
is allowed.

Have a water source nearby, and keep your burn pile to 4 feet X 4 feet or less.
