Residential burn pile spreads out of control near Ash Fork

The results of a residential pile burn that spread out of control near Ash Fork

April 16, 2024

An out-of-control residential pile burn spread into surrounding brush at an Ash Fork-area home last Friday.

The Kaibab Estates West Fire Department says one of their volunteers spotted the fire, and while responding crews were set up a perimeter, several trees burst into flames. With the assistance of Ash Fork Fire, they contained the blaze to about two acres; and also returned to the scene later that evening to put out a small flare up.

Remember to always contact your local fire agency for authorization before conducting burns on your property; constantly monitor the burn, with a hose and shovel handy; and put out the fire if the wind picks up.
