The Prescott Police Department reminds those traveling for Spring Break to make sure your home is safe while you are gone.

Lock all windows and doors, secure your valuables, and do not leave keys in obvious hiding places outside. Put one or two lights on automatic timers.; unplug electronics and turn down your thermostat to save on electricity.

You can also contact your local post office to put a temporary hold on your mail, or have a friend or family member pick it up. Talk to trusted neighbors so that they know no one should be at your home; and wait to post pictures on social media until you are back.
