Montezuma Castle, Tuzigoot on delayed opening Tuesday, Wednesday; parks to transition to cash-free fee collection

February 16, 2024

The National Park Service advises the public that Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will have a delayed opening Tuesday and Wednesday mornings February 20 and 21, due to mandatory staff training. The parks will open at 10:30 a.m. each day, instead of 8:00.

The Park Service also recently announced that the two local Monuments will transition to completely cash-free fee collection, beginning March 1st.

From that date, both locations will only accept mobile or electronic payments for entrance and permit fees; and visitors can also purchase a digital entrance pass online before arriving, at Recreation.gov.Officials say the move will allow parks to better use revenues by reducing the amount of time park staff spend managing cash.
