Humboldt USD cancels Fri. classes at all schools "Out of an abundance of caution"

April 5, 2024
Humboldt Unified School District officials canceled classes at all of their schools Friday, “out of an abundance of caution,” due to the recent incidents at Bradshaw Mountain High School and safety concerns from the community.
In a Thursday Press Release, Superintendent Christine Griffin reiterated that despite rumors circulating in the community and online, there was no shooting or bomb threat at any District school. Coyote Springs Elementary did have a fire alarm go off due to a water leak in the gymnasium; and students were evacuated to the fields outside the school, with buses put on standby if needed. However, once the leak was identified, classes resumed as normal.
Griffin also noted that all three incidents at Bradshaw Mountain occurred overnight; and that the Police Department has assured the District their schools are safe.
Prescott Valley PD is still asking residents to visit the town website to see a news release with photos of the suspect; and they ask anyone in the area with an outdoor security camera to review footage between the early morning hours of March 30th, through Thursday morning, for anything suspicious.
