Firewood permits available on Coconino, Kaibab NF

April 16, 2024

The Coconino National Forest has begun selling seasonal firewood permits, as roads closed for the winter begin to reopen.

Permits are available at the forest’s ranger stations and their Flagstaff headquarters; at a minimum cost of $20. Officials advise the public that some roads are still closed due to wet and muddy conditions, especially on the Mogollon Rim.

The Kaibab National Forest is also offering permits for the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts; with North Kaibab permits available May 1.

You can purchase a permit at each respective District Office; and officials advise you to call ahead to make sure the office will be open before you visit.

For more information, visit fs.usda.gov/coconino; or fs.usda.gov/kaibab.
