Cottonwood Community School was placed on a brief lockdown Thursday morning, due to a reported threat that was determined to be unfounded.

According to the Cottonwood Police Department, a vehicle with older kids inside drove past younger children who were walking to school, and the occupants reportedly made some kind of threat toward the school.

Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District Superintendent Jessica Vocca said in a release that the campus, including Cottonwood Educational Services, was on lockdown for a matter of minutes as police responded and conducted an investigation. They concluded that the threats were not credible, and school operations resumed as normal.
