Yet another surge in phone scams

Turning to local safety concerns, Sedona residents are being warned about a surge in phone scams. Impostors posing as law enforcement officers are falsely claiming that individuals have outstanding warrants and are demanding payments through gift cards or wire transfers. The police stress that legitimate officers do not solicit fines over the phone and urge anyone contacted by these scammers to report the calls to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Fraud Department at (928) 771-3299.
