Prescott Police arrested an alleged hit and run driver who they say collided with a police vehicle on State Route 89 last Thursday night.

According to the Department, an officer was conducting a traffic stop near Watson Lake around 9:00 p.m. and got out of his vehicle to ask the driver to pull off the highway and into the lookout parking lot. As he was going back to his patrol vehicle, a passing car hit it, and almost struck the officer in the roadway.

The officer was unhurt, and the suspect continued driving north. Investigators were able to use license plate reader technology to determine the vehicle’s registered owner, and Prescott PD officers went to her home.

The suspect arrived a short time later, and her car had damage consistent with evidence from the crash. She reportedly showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI, Aggravated Assault, and Endangerment, among other charges.

The Department reminds the public that when approaching emergency vehicles, or any others with flashing lights on the side of the road, state law requires you to move over a lane, or slow down if you cannot move over.
